The opening hunt
How the first player gets the Crown
Staff begin the first Crown round by placing the one Crown with a chosen online player. That player becomes the first holder and the server-wide hunt begins immediately.
The Crown cannot be crafted or discovered in a loot chest. After the opening placement, players take it by defeating the current holder and picking up the dropped Crown.
One prize, one holder
There is only one real Crown
The Crown is a special golden helmet that recognizes one current holder or one dropped Crown. Old copies cannot be used to create duplicates, and staff can safely recover the real Crown if it becomes stuck or unavailable.
The holder wears it in the helmet slot, so that slot must be empty before claiming it.
A target, not a loophole
Asymmetric opt-in PvP
The Crown holder is an attackable public target even when their normal PvP preference is off. The holder may attack only players who have opted into PvP. Same-team attacks remain blocked, and a killed player cannot immediately retaliate against the Crown holder during the ten-minute revenge block.
Power with visibility
Holder effects and the public map
While holding the Crown, the player receives Health Boost I and normally Glowing. When the holder kills another player, the surge lasts three minutes and changes the effects to Strength II, Speed II, Health Boost I, and invisibility.
That invisibility is a short combat stealth reward, not map stealth. The optional squaremap Crown marker continues following the holder, or the dropped Crown, throughout the surge. If squaremap is unavailable, Crown gameplay continues without the layer.
Loss and recovery
The Crown falls on death
When the holder dies, the Crown drops safely at the death location. Anyone else may claim it immediately, while the former holder must wait five minutes before picking it back up. The dropped Crown cannot be damaged.
If a holder stays offline for 72 hours, the Crown returns to staff for recovery so the contest does not remain stuck with an inactive player.
